life is so fragile and the need is so great

Today has been one of those days that God really has truly squeezed my heart. I find myself leaning on my arm, bending over and weeping at what he has revealed to me today.

Most of you know that I have a heart for adoption, some of you know that my husband and I already have what the world would see as a large family, a few of you know that 6 children is a drop in the pan to me...I don't see it as large-the only time my husband and I have a "twinge" of "large" is when we climb into our newer acquired Suburban and we are already full (8 passenger). God is giving me vision for a much larger brood, perhaps larger than a brood-lately it has been looking like an orphanage......full of loved, blessed, adopted children.

God led me to a video, I watched it and was wrecked...it shows the staple of many Haitian peoples diet...please watch this clip and join me in prayer to see what God would have us to do to make a difference in this world. We have so much, too much, Lord show us what we can do to be your hands and feet, to make a difference and an impact for your Kingdom.

video-For His Glory

As I shared this revelation with a few of my close friends today, I expressed to them my anger and frustration that I feel so small and limited in what I can actually do for these children (and the children here or in Guatemala, China, Russia, Romania, Hungary............) I told them that it seemed that prayer was not enough, that I wanted to put it to action. They firmly reminded me that prayer is action, that it is powerful and able to accomplish more than we ask or think.

Would you be interested in joining me-asking God if there is something he would have us do?

1 Kings 8:44-45

When Your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way You shall send them, and they pray to the LORD toward the city which You have chosen and the house which I have built for Your name,

then hear their prayers from heaven and uphold their cause.

I can't see the video (the curse of dial up) but I can tell by the passion in your post that God has put quite a fire in you for this cause. It takes a special person to care for so many children. ~Ksrlie

So far my passion is for one. God, let me help one. Let me bring one into our family, with lots of love, lots of food and especially lots of the reality of God. I have my eyes wide open watching for the right timing, the right opportunity. Lead us Jesus.

Thanks for sharing your passion for all to read. I really think God 'connected' me to your blog for a higher purpose than just extracurricular reading. Blessings!

Oh my, you've given me more than one reason to cry today. Thank you so much for sharing this. We have 11 at home, all homemade and I'm getting on in years (adoption-wise), but that is where my heart has been for a few years now. I just need to keep praying that if it is the Lord's will, He will move on my husband's as well.

Meanwhile, we throw all the money we can at the issues, which makes me feel useful in some capacity.

Thank you for sharing. That video is heartbreaking. I'll join with you in prayer seeking the Lord and asking how He would have us respond to situations like this one and others that are so similar. Our family has a heart for adoption as well. We've adopted one precious child through foster care and are hoping to adopt our second. I would love to adopt internationally some day if that is the Lord's will for our family.

Blessings,

Diane

Kimmie,

I have watched that video before, but I don't mind seeing it again. I am adopting two little ones from Haiti. We have been in process since accepting our referral in December 2005. And... the best news is that I will be going to Haiti in only 10 days to meet my babies in real life.

I love your heart. I love your heart. I love your heart. My own heart longs to take some in; just waiting on my hubby's heart.

Oh, Kimmie, you have me in chills and tears! How precious are these children. How much my heart longs to have our boys in our arms and to feed them all the food they want. I want to give them every last drop of safe water that their little bodies can handle. Oh, Lord, part the waters and bring them home. Lord, move in miraculous ways in Christian lives to care for the suffering orphans around the world. Oh, that we would not become complacent in our lives, but that we would persist in prayer for the hungry children, the children that need the hope of Jesus Christ in their lives. God, I agree in prayer with Kimmie...use us to be your hands and feet...use us for your glory alone!

(yes, you can add me to your friends list...I love your heart and passion for Christ and adoption!)

Kimmie,

Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. It is very difficult as an adoptive parent, once you have reached your "limit" and your house is full, knowing how many children around the world are still waiting.

After agonizing over the waiting child photolistings for the past 2 years, I felt the best thing I could do was do encourage other families to consider adoption and encourage church families to support families considering adoption. And guess what?? I found there were many other families who felt the same way I did and thus began the Tri-County Interfaith Adoption Ministry. And....somewhere in the process, my husband realized that we did indeed have room in our hearts and homes (and suburban) for one more child and here we are 4 months later waiting to bring our 11 year old daughter home. God does indeed work in mysterious ways :)

Kimmie,
Oh, the children of Haiti. Mark and I have wanted to adopt from Haiti at some point. And hopefully we still will, someday. My uncle works with an orphanage in Haiti and my mom and brother have been...
Love you, Kimmie. I can't wait to see what God is doing in your heart and life.
