decoupage...sticky adventures

Pirate Jacky (16) and I began working on the decoupaged suitcase this afternoon. We chose to start with the largest, as this will house the boys shoes under the bed. Our creation isn't finished, but thought you'd like a peak at our work of art.

My daughter and I were fighting (after the fact) over whether we applied the pictures upside down (she started the project without me). She insists that because it will be slid under the bed that her upside down way is the best conceivable way.

I am sorry I ever paid for that, "Logic" class for her!

We are having fun and will work some more over the weekend...need to buy more Mod Podge!
p.s.- they are disgarded library books that I picked up for $2.60 yesterday-happy creating!

Way to Go, you guys!!! That turned out AWESOME! What a great idea to get used books for it...I might be "borrowing" your idea in the future. GREAT WORK!!! :)

Um, tell your sweet sixteen-year old that I *completely* agree with her on the placement of the pictures. Wouldn't it be such a shame to pull that cute suitcase out from underneath the bed only to not be able to see the pictures right-side up?!
Great job, girls!

Hi Kimmie, thanks for you comment on my blog yesterday. I am always so pleased to meet new people. I really love your decoupage project. I used to do decoupage all the time before I had kids. You have inspired me to bring it all out and give it a go with the kids.

BTW...I totally understand what you mean about cutting up books. I don't know I could do it.

This post set me into deep remorse for the silly fact that i sent my 70's samsonite pale blue luggage to the thrift shop years ago. It was in perfect shape. What was I thinking? Your idea is just so wonderful. Your daughter is quite clever, I would have done it your way too.
Great job.

I have pleasant memories of my mother, when i was in jr high, taking my sister and I once a week to a friend's house where we painted and fired pottery and decoupaged our hearts out. I still do not know what inspired this in my mom, who is not crafty, but they are cherished memories.

I haven't thought about doing decoupaging for years. Thanks for the reminder of a fun summer time activity.

Yours turned out great.

Hey Kimmie!

Thanks for stopping by. Yes, we did meet at the CLG homeschool group. I haven't been there since prior to my two year old being born. After she came along, any free time vanished. I don't know how you do it with so many, and still time to decoupage! Do you give lessons in time management? Haha!

Anyway, I would love to be involved in the group again. I will see what the schedule brings this year. How is Ann Marie? We may be visiting CLG next Sunday. Do you attend there? Also, I remember that your daughter took Latin classes. Are there any close by that you know of?

Anyhow, time to go pick out next years curriculum. I've been avoiding it, as I can't make up my mind. Have a great day!

Blessings,
Hallie

I would have to call that suitcase very COOL! Also about the 'logic' your daughter does have a point (sheepish smile) but since it is your blog maybe I shouldn't say this. My sister and I often have logic 'battles'... she says I have learned from her. Sad to say I am a little proud of being logical...but I have had many prideful falls after thinking this way! Thank you for commenting on my blog. I shall be visiting yours often.
