Our Visitor from the Ukraine

Time again has come and gone, our dear 'Uncle Fred' spent his annual visit with us this past week. This is our 4rth or 5th visit with our sweet Uncle Fred, who my husband met while on a mission trip to Hungary 5 years ago. Fred became a fast friend to my Knight, and the following year he made his first trip to visit with us. Everyone loves this man, he was a definite 'easy' adopt, into our hearts and family.

Fred, has friends all over the world, originally he was from Scotland, now his home is an orphanage in the Ukraine helping to care for their 16 charges. Our youth Pastor met him while he was serving as a missionary at Crossbasket Castle in Scotland many years before we adopted him as our 'Uncle Fred.'

It was a lovely visit, he shared so much of his wisdom with us. So fun to hear his Scottish ways and hear of his mum and family. He has a heart for children, a love for fun and is a man of godly vision. Our time flew by, but what nice memories we have to hold on to until next year, God willing. Dear Uncle Fred just celebrated his 71st birthday-he has a young spirit and is so full of life and love.

It was Uncle Fred that gave my blog its name...as he said in a note to us, "My Dears,
you must be over the moon with joy
with the adoption finalized on your three wee ones."

As I read it, 'over the moon with joy' resounded like a cymbal being clashed by my Father. I held the phrase tightly and when I moved to this new blogging space (I began at Homeschool Blogger), I captured my heart with Uncle Fred's words of love.

I'm so glad that you had a great weekend even if the hayride got rained out. And how sweet that 'Uncle Fred' still continues to visit every year. Good people do still exist!

Love,
Julie

What an amazing gift of God for BOTH your family and for "uncle fred" to have adopted one another. I Love when God unites our hearts to people in a way that we can't explain. My wish for this year?...that He would allow my family to be that for someone who's lonely.

beautiful family!
