Show and Tell Friday!

My friend Kelli, at There is No Place Like Home, is hosting her weekly Friday, Show and Tell. She has invited everyone to join in the fun, in sharing something from your home or garden with rest of us.

Today I am sharing a decoupaged suitcase I finished over the summer. My son's are using it on their dresser to catch all the lonely socks. I love how it came out-it began as a 70's suitcase set that I picked up at a thrift shop for a few dollars. I chopped some vintage children's books that I picked up in my travels and adhered them with some Modge Podge glue, finishing off with a couple of coatings of varnish to shine it up! They have a second one under their bed to hold their tiny little shoes and another small case awaits in the garage, as I found it 2 weeks ago and it told me it so badly wanted a make over!

Have fun...hope you join the fun.

Kimmie,
How cute is that suitcase? My niece and I were just discussing how people used to cover their suitcases when suitcases were still hard, unlike the canvas ones of today.

But, here you are with one. I guess I never thought about looking for one. Great idea and project for kids.

Love,
Julie

What a great idea to use the old hard suitcases to store things in. I have by passed so many in my life. They would definitely hold up better than a cardboard box under the kids beds;)

Thanks for sharing yours with us. You did a great job!

How creative, cute, and fun! What unique and character-filled storage containers! And if you ever did use them for traveling, they'd be easily recognizable on the airlines' conveyor belt. But they're almost too pretty to subject to the rough treatment they might get on a plane.

Unique idea--but I hated the fact that you had to cut up some vintage books!! ;-)

I hope you enjoy decoupage as much as I do. I have a suitcase which I covered in a lifelong collection of postcards. It holds all my decoupage books. I love it.

Blessings and bliss

What a cute idea! I need to make something like that for all the wayward socks that come out of the dryer without their mate!!
