My new beauty, come meet her!

I was eyeing one on ebay...she is such a beauty. I have only had one other, she belonged to my Knight's grandmother, she too is a beauty- a very simple beauty. My sweet Knight surprised me with her-come with me and meet her! I bet you'll love her too!

My new girl is vintage, she whirrs as you lean on her pedal. She probably belonged to someone who had some skill, now she belongs to me. I am sadly lacking in skill, but I make up for it in passion. I love her. My children gather around me as I began getting to know her better, I have a long way to go before we are endeared to one another. She is patient and looks at me with all her colors, smiling, drawing me to sit and learn a thing or two by her side. Glorious creation.

My King Meemer (5) stays by my elbow, he says, "She is a beauty Mama." (I had explained how things of great beauty are, "she.") He is quiet and watches me as I sew up several paper angels. He watches, then with a great laugh he says, "She's singing, she's lovely."

Hmm, I'd have to agree.

I am hoping to sew some bibs to bring with us when we go to the orphanage in Guatemala. I need to find something easy to start with. My friend Randi has lots of great sewing ideas, I bought the cutest tote bags from her little shop. If any of you want to mentor me...I am open to a sewing friend! ;-)

Oh, Kimmie, I have an old Viking and have loved it for almost 20 years.

I love to sew, but would also love to learn more. I've had my eye on an antigue machine...a Singer Featherweight, which is wonderful for machine piecing quilts, but the go for a lot on eBay these days. I'm praying to find one at a tag sale some day.

My best advice (not that you asked)...jump right in, don't be afraid. Get a pattern or two or just be creative, some fabric and let your imagination run.

Enjoy!

Kimmie,
I do agree she is a beauty, and quite hip by the way!

I'm so happy for you! Though I have to say, since we just watched "Ocean's 13" last night - when I got to the pics of the knobs I was thinking those were casino chips. :)

I agree, she is a BEAUTY! I am planning to sew some towel bibs for Prince Charming in the near future. I would love to make some 'sleeve saver' bibs, but need to find a pattern. Maybe you can mentor me!

I can't wait to see what you create with your Beauty!

Wow, that is a nice vintage machine! Sure looks shiny. I am no good at sewing. I tried to make a halloween costume once and sewed the opening for the head closed!

"She" is indeed a beauty!! I wish I had even a smidgen of talent in the sewing arena, but I'm sadly lacking.

I hope you will share lots of your gorgeous creations together.

My husband bought me a new machine for my birthday. It's snazzy. It has lots of buttons. I played with them all. Now if only I could sew a straight line. I love how you ask for a sewing mentor and then your next post is of 2 beautiful creations. I'm not brave enough to post the 2 things I have sewn on my new machine. They are hideous. People might be nice and say otherwise, but we would all know better. :) Enjoy your new "girl". Keep us posted with all of your creations too, maybe there will be one that I am capable of making. :)
