Fiddling with my 'to donate' pile

I found a size 4 little boys red sweatshirt in my, to donate pile in the garage. I have decided that before I go buy a lot of fabric (new or thrifted) that first I will 'play' with my give away pile. My first attempt was a miserable failure...I took a too small girls white t-shirt and tried to make a bib. It was too stretchy and came out just plain weird, my 6 and 8 year old dear daughters said it was perfect for them to play house with-they must be desperate for a bib!

My second attempt fared much better, it was very simple- cut two pieces (one front and one back piece for the bib). Turn to face right sides of the fabric together. I stitched around the 2 sides and bottom - but left the top portion of the bib open to turn it. I found some old white bias tape in my sewing basket (hey, I stopped to clear out my two large sewing baskets too!)- I opened it up and sewed it on to the front, then hand stitched it on to the back side. (it was very narrow, wider tape would work much easier and could probably be done totally on the machine.
*remember, I am learning as I go here! I then sewed the bias tape closed, on both neck strings, knotted the ends and it actually looks like a bib! Yeah!

I will get to the 'ask me' on Monday, as a few of you had a question or two to ask me-tomorrow will be Prayer Request Sunday, so my friends, come on back!

Cute, cute! Do you have a receiver in line for that creation or does it go in a gift pile?

You are getting very good at fiddling with things! This is an adorable bib and I think it is great that it is repurposed!

What a great idea!! I am going through my "give away" pile and attempt a few creations myself. Thank you for the inspiration :-)
