a little under the weather

Normally this is my day for prayer requests-however, as I am not feeling well ~I will jump back in next week, with Prayer Request Sunday.

However, I did want to share something God revealed to me, while I laid in bed and my family was without me, worshipping at church this morning. I opted to stay put, as I had a fever and was feeling weak- this is a rarity for me. I went back to sleep for an hour, went downstairs to get a drink and climbed back into bed. Three of my animals joined me in my bedroom, my 1 1/2 year old Golden Retriever, Hunter, who lay at the foot of the bed, my cat, Hope who lay on my tummy and our "baby" kitty, Tobin who is about 3 months old.

Now Tobin is a surprise gift to us from God, he was abandoned (as all our animals were) and was brought to our door at 3 weeks old by me mum. We didn't think we wanted another cat, but he is our joy-he acts like a baby and keeps us constantly laughing. A good thing when you are waiting on an adoption to Guatemala, that is seemingly motionless. Honestly, we are smitten...all of us and every person who comes to our house wants to take him home, we have had a dozen offers, though no one wanted him originally. He is my little man and I am his mama-my heart jumps when he puts his head on me or gives me a Tobin hug.

Tobin came up and laid on my feet, as he positioned himself in the quiet house, he began to purr. I began to talk to God, as I had chills that kept me from falling back to sleep. As I prayed about many things and God showed me a few things, I realized that Tobin had stopped purring. It caught my attention and I began speaking out loud to my faithful friends, first my dog, then my beautiful Hope (who we named Hope, as when we found her she was near death- the vet didn't think she'd make it...I prayed and named her Hope, as I truly Hoped she would live), lastly, I thought,'I wonder if I speak to my sleeping Tobin, if he would somehow respond' though he was sleeping. God encouraged me to do it. As I spoke his name he suddenly began to purr with great vigor.

God suddenly said, " That is just how I feel when you take the time to speak to Me (through prayer), I made you for my pleasure. It pleases me greatly to hear your voice."

I will slip out now, my house is no longer quiet and as my Knight is at youth group -I need to go feed the wee troop that is left here.

Be blessed too.

I am blessed by this, Kimmie. Thank you. Tobin sounds so sweet, even though I'm terribly allergic to cats! :)
I hope you are feeling better!

Hi Elise;

;-)
I was allergic to cats before too!!!

My oldest so wanted one, I kept saying no...finally we told her yes (after years of her asking)and my Knight and I told her she could pray about it. She was ELATED-guess what, the very next day God sent her a cat.

My husband opened his office door and in runs this orange calico cat and sits literally on his head. He called me at home, and asked what he was supposed to do...(it wouldn't leave)- he brought it home, we placed ads for a month, went through the neighborhood...finally let her keep it.

So how did I get over my allergy (running eyes, red eyes, itching, sneezing...) Well, I began 'kitty sniffing'.

Yup, I put my face into the cat and breathed deeply...I continued to do this daily until I built up a tolerance to cat dander or cat spit or whatever it is that makes you allergic.

Now we have three indoor cats (all sent by God)...and no more allergies...
but that doesn't help with the flu that I have.

Not sure what to do for this ;-)

Kimmie,

I've asked God several times since you posted this, "What do You want to talk about that makes You purr?" You see, most of my prayers turn into adultified, spiritualized whining. How nice is that? Thanks for reminding me that He just really wants to love me and be loved by me, a true friendship. You are a pray-er, and I struggle with prayer. It is terribly encouraging to hear your thoughts on talking to God.

I hope you are feeling better from your flu. Poor thing!

Your Tobin is precious! And Suzy is much better, I just neglected to repost during the holidays... infact we caught her on video drinking the water from the tree, but it was too dark to post :(
Thanks for asking!

Hi dear friend,

I hope you are feeling better and the flu part of your illumination is gone. I just want you to know that I love reading your blog. I know I don't find the time to sit and read it as much as I would like to, but I want you to know how much I love reading the things you have written.

I always feel encouraged and spiritually rejuvenated every time I am here and I thought you should know that. I thank God for your wisdom and I am truly blessed to have you. I did start a journal a couple of weeks ago, well...because you said I should and I now I just need to *remember* to write in it.

I think the ricotta pie looks delish! And I am very impressed that you have added a frame to one of your pictures! Great job!

Big hugs,
Hallie
