The promised post...something tangible this way comes

Can you see Guatemala...God can!

Well, for the moment things have settled with my computer problem, let's pray that it keeps!

I had mentioned on Sunday that I had something I wanted to share, well here it is:

As most of you know we have been waiting on an adoption to Guatemala for what seems like an eternity. I had asked God for something tangible to help me pray, as sometimes it is hard to muster up the courage to pray. Our adoption stands on such shaky grounds with the situation with Guatemalan adoption.

In September I was sitting in my weekly women's bible study group and the Lord spoke to my heart in the midst of our study. He told me to get some Guatemalan soil. Now I pondered it in my heart, but it seemed too difficult and perhaps even strange. I didn't ponder it too long, as everything began to fall apart with our adoption and I figured what's the point. Well a few months passed, I forgot about the dirt, again the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart while I was at my bible study. Both times were totally unexpected, as we weren't anywhere near 'adoption'.
This time however the Lord told me something different, He used my friend Genesis in the solution. He told me to ask my friend Genesis for the soil. Now, I knew how to 'get it,' but need to be brave enough to ask her for it. You see, we are blogging friends, God had led me to her blog as I searched out the word Guatemala. We had sent a few private emails back and forth, getting to know each other, but really I was a virtual stranger to her.

My sweet Genesis!

Fortunately when Genesis read my request, she didn't think I was crazy, but shared that she grew up with a similar faith (on hearing God) and quickly went about gathering the soil.

My package arrived on Saturday-I picked it up at the post office and waited until safe at home to open it. Tucked inside were two sweet tins, both filled with the beautiful Guatemalan soil. She also graciously sent a pair of baby socks for me to hold onto as we waited. She pulled the socks off her babe and wanted me to have them as a sweet reminder in my wait.

How awesome is my God, to give me a friend in Guatemala (her other blog) and to give me soil to hold as I pray. It couldn't have come at a better time, it is sitting by my computer, today we received news that our agency is shutting down referrals to Guatemala. They hope to reopen after January 1st, but things are if~y at best. Though I don't have a baby to hold, I do have this bottled up soil, tins and wee socks to hold on to, helping me to focus with my praying.

Sometimes He moves us out of our box, always it is for our best and to bring us a hope and a future. Will you stand with me praying and believing ?

This is not good Christmas news as you can imagine-however, I know I am loved!

My tins from Genesis, filled with the beautiful brown Guatemalan soil.
The lid is painted with the dust from its long journey.

Double the love, if this only meant twins!
Sometimes when God speaks to me I also see what He is saying. When He spoke soil, I saw it sitting in a small glass jar on a table in my home.

A homemade jar reminding me of LOVE.

Here we sit and wait...the tins and sock will be put on my dresser in my bedroom, to remind me when I wake up and when I go to bed to again approach the God's Throne about our baby/children and this adoption to which He has called us.

Kimmie that's awesome! Mark 12:24 - "Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours."

Now, if for some reason I could ever help you in any way, please don't hesitate to ask simply because we have "never met." Our hearts have met and that's all that matters.

Love,
Julie

That was beautiful. We too are adopting from Guatemala and got the news from AGCI yesterday. I've been lurking on your blog for a couple months. I've been praying for your adoption along with ours. God is good and He has a plan.

The anonymous is from me, Emily, in VA. Tried to put that, but my computer did something funny on me and submitted before I was done.

It was interesting to read the rest of the story, Kimmie. I´m glad the dirt and socks can help you out. :D

I´m looking forward to meeting you in person when (not if) you come to pick up your beautiful baby(ies) here in Guatemala.

Hi again Kimmie,
To answer your question about my blog...
I have been doing my own headers. I find pictures that I want to work with and add my print using a version of Adobe Photoshop. I am a complete amateur but use trial and lots of errors to figure it all out. When you are ready, feel free to email me and maybe I could help you with what little I do know!

Blessings,
Sue

Beautiful post, Kimmie. Somehow God has all this in His hands and will 'work all things together for good' for you because you love Him! So cool that you have that soil as a sign. This shall be a sign....

God has planted seeds in your Guatemala soil Kimmie. Water the seed and soil each day with prayer and watch it grow.

What a blessing Genesis is to you. And the socks...I can't wait to see the picture of them on your sweet little one. (Or better yet, one sock on each baby!)

You are in my prayers!
Michelle
