When the Spirit of God speaks in stone to me

Once upon a time there was a girl. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. He spoke to her often, over the course of her years. One day He told her to grab her camera as He had something special for her. In obedience she grabbed her camera, jumped in her suburban named Katrinka, loaded in the kids and lunch and headed on a road trip to her Mum's. She needed some time of quiet, a time to rest her head, as her road had become too fast paced, her life had many difficult life changing decisions to face. She desired a day with her mum, the quiet of a farm house and the beauty that comes with that.

The girl drove the same way she has been driving for 5 years, the route has become routine, as sometimes life can become for those who breathe.
. This day she slowed down, she waited to again hear her Lord's voice. Before she was even out of her town and her normal boundaries, she heard the Lord. She turned to where His voice came from and then she saw it. First the giant oak, then what her God wanted her to see.

She pulled into the enclosed area, the kids obediently sat in the tank, as they had the wrong shoes on for the short trek to the special place. They sat quietly, all along knowing that God had spoken.

After 15 minutes their Mama re~entered the car, tears streaming down her face. They asked to see what God had shown me. I passed the images back to them and I could hear the change in their breathing.

The moment I had was a definite God moment, the images will forever be etched into my mind and heart. I will never be the same again and I want more of you Lord. He has so much more to reveal to us, do you have your notebook, might want to charge your camera too. Because beyond the next breath, God may whisper something to you that takes your breath away and fills you with Awe,Wonder and the great reminder of where your help comes from.

A division: road, metal fence, grand old tree and the stone word from God.

The only words on this stone testiment are 'Kelley'-no year, no date, the simplicity that I so needed to see, the image that I had past probably thousands of times before-but never seeing, never slowing down enough to be deeply moved by the Hand of God. However, this day God wanted to tell me something in stone and remind me that this is all I need to know.

Thank you Holy Spirit!

You know what stands out the most to me in this? The fact that you're children -though obediently waiting alone in the car- were a major part of your moment with God.

THOSE kinds of memories will stay with them for the rest of forever.

This is beautiful Kimmie. I wonder how many times we fail to "see" what God intends for us to see along the way. I'm glad He spoke to you today and that you saw.

I agree with Christin. That they knew you were talking to a real, personal God that spoke to you....for real. Your kids will be blessed through you!

I found your blog on the Family Friendly Network blogroll.

As I just told a couple of online friends, your life is very different than mine in that you are busy raising a household of kids (God's blessings!), but my spirit really bears witness with where you are spiritually.

I love your blog, and will be back! :-)

Oh Kimmie. I love how personal and intimate our God is. I love your heart for Him. I love the way you model for your kids. I love that you share with us.

And I love the clock for Ethiopia. :)

Kimmie,

You pass on child-like faith to your kids. I'm so glad you told us they were with you. So often I want to "trim" Jesus to fit into their perspective. I'm afraid to let them know Him aside from me. What if He doesn't do what I/they ask Him to do? Your photos are a vivid reminder - even in that fear.

One thing.

All I can say is wow. Your sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and the beautiful image He showed you left me in tears.

Lord, help me to slow down and hear you whisper my name.

Showing them the Lord is what having our children with us all day is all about. Academics means nothing in light of pointing them toward the Savior. May we never forget that!
It took me a little while to realize I had been to your blog before. My goodness...I've been looking at your adoption posts so long, I forgot how I got here~~another friend's blog. Your refections on 2006 entry brought tears to my eyes. I am sorry you are having a painful wait on your Guatemalan child. I can understand, as, even though we had a referral on our 2nd, we had many delays that we were afraid would never end. I pray God's blessing on your adoption and little one.
I am eager to visit Guatemala myself again. We were only in the city both times, and I long to visit more places. We are waiting on God in that area now. In the meantime, my husband and oldest daughter have been able to go back twice on missions trips, and will return again this July, Lord willing.
I loved the All God's Children video~so very touching.

(My van is named Katrina...because it has so many electrical problems...we jokingly say she survived a hurricane!)
