Thanks for the link, Kimmie! I thought I´d add that my middle name is Blue . . . like the color. But really, it´s in memory of a dog that my dad had. So basically, I´m named after a book in the Bible and a dog. :D

Oh kimmie. . you sweet thing.
I love my name. . my mom hid it away in her heart from the time she was in bible school. Her teacher had a deaf daughter named Lovella. . anyways as the story goes, I first had four older brothers and when my mom called my dad from the hospital . .(he was sitting by the phone cleaning eggs) she said. . Lovella is here. He said really?
I don't really know the true meaning except that I desire to be lovely. So often I mess up but I'm forgiven and I try yet once more. .
Thank you for asking. . it is one of my favorite stories.

Hi Kimmie :) This is a neat idea! My name, Quinne, means "wise one" - which is quite the challenge, because often I'm not very wise at all... and that makes me ever more grateful for the Father's grace :)

My favorite story about my name is that my mother chose it because her name was Jane - and she always disliked her "plain jane name". Of course, you probably guessed, she was anything but "plain" - she was effervescent and marvelous in so many ways!

Also, my great grandfather's name was Quinnel, so that's where she found the idea :)

Love, Q

Tracie- I was named after one of my mom's favorite students.
It means "fierce, war-like"

I've always been a fighter, pretty strong willed and determined.

My kids:
Nicholas Dean- Victorious/ From the valley (I always see him as one who will be strong even in the valley seasons of life)

John Taylor- God is Gracious/ a Tailor (I always like the sound of Taylor but never really gave the meaning consideration til one day some one spoke over his life that he would be like a Tailor, and would weave unity in the Body of Christ as he stand before people with the message of the gospel

Isabelle Josephine- Consecrated to God/God will increase (Isabelle has always been one with intense devotion to God- she is fiery and determined to know all of him)

Elia Jane- The Lord is my God/God is Gracious (Elia is a reflection of the very heart of God towards our family. He was so gracious to rescue her and bring her into our lives. Her name also comes from Luke 1:17 referring to the spirit of adoption (Elijah and John the Baptist- Elia Jane is the feminine of those two names)

SORRY FOR THE LONG COMMENT!

I'm afraid there's no real profound meaning behind my name, though it is an unusual name.

My mom and two of her girlfriends were all pregnant with girls at the same time. Of course, this being 52 years ago, they didn't know they were going to have girls until we were all born.

My mom chose to name me Debbie, but one of her friends gave birth first and used that name. It is a pretty name, but as I had at least three Debbies in every class through grade school, so I'm glad I wasn't one more Debbie.

Alternately, she chose the name Renee, a name which I've always loved, incidentally. Unfortunately, yet again, the other friend beat her to the delivery room and chose to name her daughter Renee.

At that point, my mom decided to make up her own name, and she came up with Renna. I went all through school having my name misprounounced by every teacher and many classmates. That fact caused me to hate my name. At some point, though, I grew into it, and now I like it. It is pronounced "Wren-uh", with emphasis on the first syllable.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it! ;-)

Thanks for including me in your blog post today, Kimmie. :-D

Well, I'm Toni Dannielle. But have been called Dani my whole life so I'm not sure really what my parents were thinking. It's quite confusing at the bank. :)
Toni means priceless
Dannielle means God is judge
Sounds good to me!

HI, name: Amber
Meaning:
Simply means "amber", from the English word that denotes either the fossilized tree resin or the orange-yellow colour.

Is that exciting or what? lol

Hey, Renna, did I tell you that FOX NEWS has a correspondent named, Reena? :D

Fun post, Kimmie!

My name isn't unusual nor is there a neat story behind it. I was almost named April since I was born in April. That would would have been hilarious with my married last name.

Oh boy, I wish I had some great meaning for my name, but it actually means permiscuous. (I don't think I spelled that right!) That is why Prince Andrew is called "Randy Andy".

Funny thing, my sister's name, Tracy, means the same thing! My parents did this accidentally, I am sure of it!

As some have asked (Emily) ;-)

My name Kimberly means noble one.
Not sure I grasp the meaning or how you apply that...?
As I am a born-again believer...and now am adopted into God's family tree...well, perhaps in that regards indeed I am nobility!

When God speaks to me, He has always called me Kimmie, as has my family. Truly it is my preference- as most of you know their are zillions of Kim's. sigh. Many people who don't know me well, or perhaps think "Kimmie" is to personal (or immature?) pick Kim. Funny, it always sits kind of funny with me, as it was how I was reprimanded as a girl.

Not sure I would pick 'Kimmie' for a name for myself (if given a choice)...I think the name Blue Sky is rather fun! ;-)

AND Toni Dannielle-my heart jumped with joy to see your post. As this whole time I have wondered what your name was...and as it is such a 'special' thing for me (names)...I am so glad you shared! Yeah!!!

Be blessed -all of you! I love all of your names, but more importantly I love you and am thankful for your friendships.

Randi-you crack me up, I am going to have to do more research and find you a new name meaning! lol!

And if you haven't shared-come on... you must have a story behind your name.

I want to hear about YOU!!

My name means Strong. kinda boring. I don't have a middle name that appears on my birth certificate. On the way home from the hospital my brother (14 years older) noticed a street sign. So my middle name? It's after an Avenue near a hospital in New York somewhere.

My children are all named because of the meaning behind them. And their names are all from the Bible. It was important to me to have names that had a deep meaning to them. After the first 2 were named with names from the Bible we thought we'd better stick with that so no one felt left out.

My great grandmother's name was Cora but everyone called her Coe. My parents spelled my name Koe (it matches my maiden last name, Knudsen). I am glad to be named after a godly great-grandmother :)
My husband was adopted, but his first name was Saboe. We laugh because I could have been Koe-Saboe (close to Kosavo).

Hi Kimmie!
Thanks for including me in your post and linking to me, you are so sweet! My mom named me Velvia Natalie(middle name), after her two best friends in elementary school. I have no idea what Velvia means or the origin of the name, but there is a 35mm film that professional photographers use that's called Velvia! How weird is that?
Love, Velvia

Hi Kimmie, Great post! I love learning these little things about people. My name:

Julie--"youthful"-people always think I am younger than I am. I still get people asking to talk to my mom when I answer the phone and I'm 31.

Renee--"reborn"-how cool is that? Neither of my parents are believers, but God must have placed that name on their hearts.

Praying for the perfect name for this little life growing inside of me.

Hi Kimmie,

This is Traci from CLG. My maiden name is my most favorite. It is Ehman. It is my favorite because my father adopted me when I was 7 years old. I remember many of the details that actually pertain to me (not the paperwork, but the interview by the judge), but the most memorable is his love. He loved me unconditionally. He loved me wholeheartedly. When doing a name research project in school, I found that Ehman means "Good Man". And that I truly found in my Dad.

"Kate" is pretty boring compared to these names, isn't it? My full name is Kathryn -- only marginally more interesting -- and it means "pure" from the Greek "catharos".

Kate

Letitia said...

Well, I'm a little late on this post, but thought I'd add mine, too. Letitia (pronounced Luh-tisha) is from latin (laetitia, and means "joy". My middle name is Kay. I don't guess I've ever looked up the meaning. My mom's middle name is Kay. My 2nd daughter has Kayla as one ofher names. People always called me Tisha growing up, and my family still does. Somehow when we moved here 18 years ago, that got dropped by everyone but my family. I kind of prefer Tisha, but it sounds weird now telling people to call me that!! I guess "Letitia" is more grown up as someone else said. : )
