The carpenters of the family

I have been amazed how God gives gifts and that they can manifest so early in our children's lives. Point in case is King Meemer, at 5 years old he went outside on a Saturday morning after asking if he could use some old wood that is stored behind the barn and if he could 'borrow' some nails as well. Several hours later he came in with a small stool, honestly it was a stool and surprisingly well built. He had no help and just said he could see it in his head.

Since then he has taken on an apprentice, his older sister Princess Sunshine. King Meemer now 6, decided that he had the right boards to make a birdhouse, so he and Princess Sunshine spent the whole of a Saturday morning configuring their little gift to the birds. Lunch time they came in and asked if Papa could drill a hole for their entrance (to which a nice circle had been drawn at the proper decided location) and with a smaller circle beneath for the necessary perch for the wee winged recipient. Papa helped the two with the roof, but the whole rest was all them!
We are very proud, to say the least and continue to offer a supply of necessities for our budding carpenter(s). How cool that he also has a teaching gift that is manifesting itself so early. The funny thing is, for years my Knight has been saying that he'd really like to spend some time learning to build things, that perhaps this would be a good outlet for some free time. I think God heard and brought him a son who would show him the ropes.

Wow, this is great! I am very impressed with their creation. Hopefully you have lots of lovely birds come to your yard to live there!

Wow. I`m so impressed! Irving dabbled in carpentry for a bit and he never got joins that neat! :) Looks like you have an innate carpenter there . . . that`s SO cool. When he gets a bit older you can put him to work making chairs and cupboards for the house!

Brilliantly done! I'll bet they love Legos and K'Nex, too.
Smartie Pants... and at those ages, too.

Good job, kiddos! I've always loved to build things too. I think it's great that you encourage their independent thinking like that.

I love the bird box. They are so clever to make it themselves. It has enabled them to be creative and also caring providing a home for the birds. You must show where you put it and which birds make it their home. Well done kids.

Wow, what a great job. Special talent that boy has. Maybe one day he will build you a really big house, one you can fill with lots and lots of children :)

Wow! He sure is gifted! That is such a lovely bird house (much better than I could make - I can't even hammer a nail straight)!

That is great! I just have to wonder aloud here. . . How much real learning would take place in our homes, if we would just let go of our inhibitions and let God teach us and our dear children as His will unfolds? Hmmm, you've definitely given me some food for thought!

He reminds me of my third oldest son. He built his first item when he was three! He's 12 now and is still the builder of our family. Through the years, our little builder lost many hammers, hand saws and left nails laying in the driveway...causing a few flat tires! It is definitely a God given desire our son has.

Tell your sweet ones I love the bird house. They did a great job.

Hi Kimmie, the kids did a good job there, I reckon there will be some happy birds over your way next Spring. If Vicki sees what they did she might be finding them a few jobs to do for her as wood working is not something I'm good at. Bob.
