Friendship with sweet surprises

My sweet girlfriend, Michele recently went on her first mission trip to Peru. Michele has shared our journey for years and knows personally the pain of infertility. While ministering the love of God to the peoples of Peru, she also deeply ministered to me. On a day out into the market area, she remembered a conversation we had about me trying to find a baby sling. It was a short conversation, but Michele locked it in and there in Peru she decided that the time for a blessing had come.

The funny part was that Michele couldn't remember how to fold it or get it on. We joked that it could always be a tablecloth.
Once in my door, I began to try to figure out the best and safest way to arrange it to be *baby ready.* As we are a little short on babies currently, and the closest thing is our dropper fed cat Tobin (he is my nursing baby that God sent while we waited on our Guatemalan adoption...we kindly refer to him as our Hairy Son. He does think he is human and has the best sucking reflex I have ever seen...praying the same for sweet Little Beauty.)

Tobin happily cooperated with his Mama and as you can see...we are ready to hold Little Beauty so tight. He closed his eyes and began to purr. The kids joked that perhaps he would fight Little Beauty for the sling seat.

Thanks Michele...I love my gift. It is beautiful just like you. I am blessed to have such a thoughtful friend. Thanks too for the retreat at your beautiful lake house Friday...I will cherish our sleepover and you! How blessed I am to have such wonderful friends. Michele, Karla, Beth and Dr. Cynthia... you are my delight!

If you need help, that`s the style of sling I used with both my boys, I`d be happy to give you instructions. :) They`re pretty much the only way people in Latin America carry their children and they are SO handy! Can`t wait to see Little Beauty in there. :D

That's beautiful! But I'm surprised you haven't made your own sling. My mom helped me make one and I don't know how I could've lived without it back then!

I love it. So sweet for your friend to think of you. I actually bought a version of one from Guatemala online. It's actually a baby doll sling made child size.
You old silver tree made me, "ohhhh." We had one growing up, and I've been pestering my mom for it. It's in storage in another state, and they haven't been able to get it for me. How I'd love to have that old tree, and cover it in bright red balls!

Oh to have a kitten full of soft fur that would purr to sleep in my arms...

Just wanted to let you know how much your blog inspires me to be a better person, a stronger Christian. Your question of 'Can I pray for you today' always makes me smile. You have such a beautiful and unique family, and it warms my heart to read about them.

Thank you.
