And While I'm at it...

Okay, I have something else on my heart. Actually, it is something brand new. After I wrote my last post, the Holy Spirit spoke to me. And this is what He said,
"And the Father Christmas...address that."
I really had never thought about Santa, being called *Father Christmas.*
It is another name that is undeserving of him, but what do you expect from a man who has been created since his death.
The Santa we know sits on a throne of lies,
lies like:
  • he sees you when you're sleeping
  • he knows when you're awake
  • he knows if you've been bad or good...
really?
It sounds like he has been put on equal footings with God himself. Lies I tell you.
The only Father to Christmas is our God. Christmas is a time, that we as Christians take to have a remembrance of what He has done for us. Remember, the Father (God) gave us His One and only Son, Jesus. Jesus, who left the majesty and perfection of Heaven, to come as a lowly child. He came to pay the price, in full, of our sins. He came to be our Saviour. Jesus was God and is God. God the Father is God. The Holy Spirit is God- together they make the only ones who can see you when you are sleeping and know when you're awake.
Next time you hear *Father Christmas,* please remember the profanity in this title. Let us never again make the same mistake, as to give Santa the dead man, the title that is deserving only of our Father in Heaven.
As Believers', let's start thinking about some of this stuff, that we have picked up in this world. And remember, our loving Father is watching. Hopefully, that brings you peace.

WOW Kimmie I have never thought of that. I too will not be doing Santa with my children Lord willing I get married someday. My parents did Santa with my sister and I, and now I have explained to them why I am against doing Santa, as I think Christmas should solely about our Lord being born! They are ok with it, but my mother still wants to hold onto this tradition. Maybe someday she will understand. I am so glad you are seeking the Lord about this. I love reading your blog! God bless!

In Christ,
Rebecca

It is so refreshing to hear someone else step up and boldly proclaim this truth. We do NOT involve santa in our Christmas and never will. It bothers me strongly when I see other Christians, especially pastors, claiming that it's just a harmless tradition. It's harmless in the sense of physical harm; however I believe that it's in credibly harmful to us spiritually to go along with the world's lie, and then dare teach it to our children.

I have never quite heard it explained as clearly and powerfully. Thank you friend, for listening to the Holy Spirit and sharing His truth. As a culture, we ask our children to believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny, the tooth fairy and God ... all things that they cannot see. Then slowly, one by one, we expose the lies to the first three, they were just stories, not real. What does that leave them to believe about God. Santa doesn't exist in our home and never will!

Great post! We also don't have Santa in our home. I think it takes away too much from the truth at Christmas. Thanks for sharing.

My mother preached this to us every Christmas, almost word for word! :D

During a conversation after church yesterday many parents were chatting about how they 'found out about santa' and then several said that they don't do any of that fake stuff with their children. They explain that some do and some don't and they prefer to keep it real and honest! I love this 'outside the box'. Honesty is the best policy - seriously, you can't get in trouble if you don't lie.

Love it!

Yep, yep, yep. The only Father Christmas is GOD - absolutely!! My kids fully understand how the myth of santa has come about and Saraya shakes her little 7-year-old head when she sees the way the world holds him on a pedestal. :) The only one being worshipped in our home at Christmas is Jesus!

Thank you for your mail - the picture has now been stolen by my daughter and is blu-tacked to her wall by her bed.... apparently she looks at the smiling faces of your children when she wakes up and it makes her feel happy! And reminds her to pray for your new girl. :)
