And the Word....
Reflections on our Christmas.
And so you know...Santa isn't invited to our home.
We found that he takes away from the true meaning of Christmas.
He hasn't come for over 10 years to our house
and honestly we don't miss him.
- Jesus really came. (He is the only Son of God-our expected Messiah)
- So did Saint Nicholas. (he was born in the 3rd century to a Christian family)
- Jesus is God- He was and is, and is to come.
- Nick was a follower of Jesus, who did good works.
- Jesus was Truth sent from God.
- Nick we are told was a Christian -a mere man, who set about to put his faith to action. Nick died on December 6th 343 a.d. (in Myra) and stayed buried.
- Jesus died for our sins and on the third day rose from the dead.
- Nick was remembered and his story grew larger than life over time.
- Jesus came to reveal God's love, His story (the Word of God) speaks the same truth, yesterday, today and forever.
- Santa was nice, but he is very dead, he can't do diddly-squat for you today.
- Jesus is very alive and still speaks to us through His Word (the Bible) and through His Holy Spirit, that He gives to us when we receive Him as Lord.
- In all truth Saint Nick only worked a small area of God's kingdom in his lifetime.
- Jesus finished the all work (for the whole world) the Father gave Him.
- Santa has become a religious icon. We are told to not worship anything but God.
- Jesus Christ waits for you to worship Him. He sits at the right hand of God waiting for you.
Won't you receive Him and invite Him into all 364 days left of this New Year?

My family also uninvited santa many years ago. Actually it was with the birth of my son, Blake. I couldn't justify the fact that everything told about santa is a lie. I knew that I would never want Blake to lie to me so how could I justify perpetrating a lie this huge. I also agree about the worship status given to santa. Much less the fact that only God is omnipotent. Only He sees and knows all, your hidden thoughts and feelings. Giving santa that ability diminishes the unique power that lies within our Savior alone. Thanks for this post Kimmie. It gives me hope that other christians are standing up to the worldly traditions surrounding the celebration of Jesus' birth.
Oh and 16 years later, Blake has not once ever expressed regret or disappointment in this decision that was made for him. He totally supports it. TRAIN UP A CHILD.....

Hi Kimmie! Just wanted to pop in to say hello and answer the question you asked on my blog. I used iPhoto to edit those pictures, but I usually don't do any editing to mine. I would like to do more, but I upload my pictures to a different computer (not a Mac, and therefore no iPhoto). I do love editing them, though... I should do it more! Your blogs inspire me to bring some of my favorites to the Mac and give them a makeover... hmmm.... maybe I'll do just that!

I grew up without Santa, so have never had Santa during Christmas. Why would you lie to your children?
It's so sad that everytime you go to the shops people always the kids what Santa bought them. We just smile & say we don't believe in Santa - kinda leaves them speechless at times.
Really good post! Santa hasn't been invited here in 10 years too. We haven't missed him a bit.
