Adoption-is so similar to...

Tonight I was reading aloud to my children (and my Knight)
from our favorite Bible storybook,
(Every story whispers His name!)

WE LOVE this book...get one fast if you don't have one.  My girlfriend Sherry found it first, she read it to me at my women's Bible study...and my friend Dzintra ran right out to make sure my children had it too.
(how blessed am I, right?)

Anyway I digress...

I was reading the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000.  As I got to the part where the boy offers his lunch basket to Jesus (2 fish and 5 loaves), I see Princess Sweetness, our Ethiopian daughter, tapping her heart, ever so gently.  Now you may NOT know what this means, but everyone who knows me knows that this is the secret sign language for...

*Mama is going to cry, watch out!*

Before I actually saw her pounding  tapping her breast, I heard Jesus speak to my heart.

Do you want to know what He said to me, right in the middle of this story I had heard many many times before?

Of course you do, so I will gladly tell you...

He said, "Kimmie put your $4 into the adoption pot and see what I will do."
(literally I think I have $4 to my wallet currently).
I look up past my moment with Jesus and I seem beautiful new daughter.
I hear my Knight saying, "Yup, my Ethiopian Beauty you are right!"

I tell them that this story reminds me of adoption (to which all of my friends would be SCREAMING, "Kimmie what doesn't remind you of adoption??"
It is like when we step up in faith to another adoption.  We never have all the money.  Sometimes we have more to give, sometimes we have what seems like nothing
My Knight added that he just had to hit our secret stash to get some money for gas.

Just saying, we don't have anywhere near the needed $29,000 to adopt this time.

So what am I going to do...what any girl who loves God with all of her heart would do.  I am going to give Him what I have and wait to see how He comes to show us
who He is and what He can do.

Because you know the money all belongs to Him, just watch and see how He cares for our needs and the needs of the precious child He has destined to place into our family.

Money is needed in most adoption.  Actually it is a sickening kind of amount normally.  Numbers that would make most families say. 'Impossible!"

But we who know Him, know that all things are indeed possible with Him.

"So Jesus,.here is my 4 bucks.
It is Yours.
Actually it was Yours before it was mine and You were just letting me hold it.  I release it into Your Hands and ask for You to provide the rest.  I know You will Lord, because You not only love me, but You have a plan in mind.

You want to rescue another orphan.  You want me to train her up in the way she is to go, to love you, to serve You and to love all those You put into her life.

Thank you God for letting me give you my $4.  In my heart I confess that it seems to be impossible, after all we have been blessed so many times already by our generous and kind family and friends.  How could we expect them to help us again?  I know you don't always provide in ways we expect either...

But my thoughts are not Your thoughts,
nor are my ways Your ways.
Your ways are higher and I can't wait to share
in your adoption miracle right here in my very own life.
Come Lord Jesus,  won't you come?"

Oh, Kimmie, I wish I could give you even $4...my wallet is empty and so are our bank accounts at the moment...and we're waiting on the next paycheck to mail out the tax bill (we're self employed) that was due Jan. 15....but I will praying that God will multiply your $4 exponentially!

My sweet boy (age 4 at the time) gave his trip to Kenya ... which was a part of our ministry and his daddy was going to lead the team. He understood what he was doing. He gave the cost of his ticket so that other members of our team could go. Imagine the looks on their faces when they saw the faith of a four year old. Because each and every day after he asked me to check our account. He told me "just like the bread and the fish, Jesus will take my gift and make it enough for all of us to go." With giving mine and his ticket money, a few more students could go. Each day I would check. We received miraculously enough funds in our missions account to repurchase our tickets and received the largest amount we ever received in a month (5 figures) to provide for our entire team and we never said a thing to anyone.

Give your loaves and fish friend. Imagine what God can do with it ... imagine.

When we started our Ethiopian adoption just 1 month after bringing our daughter home from Guatemala. We had $4 in the savings account. Not only has he provided EVERY cent for 1 child, he provided every cent to bring home 2 children from Ethiopia and I am leaving Sunday to do just that. GLORY TO GOD!!!

Kimmie, I LOVE The Jesus Storybook Bible and I, too, often have tears forming in my eyes because yes, indeed, every story does whisper His Name! My absolute favorite is The Captain of the storm. I love the story. I love the pictures. I go into my daughter's room and open the book to that very spot when I need to be reminded of Who He is. "Why were you scared?" he asked. "Did you forget who I Am? Did you believe your fears, instead of me?"

Kimmie, take your $4 and believe in HIM!

Hugs,
Tammy

Hi Kimmie,
That reminded me of when our daughter Fallon was little and every night at bedtime I would lie on the bed with her while Vicki read a story in the hope it would send her to sleep by the end of which it was I that was asleep and Fallon was still wide awake asking questions!

when we were going through adoption, and the costs were beginning to be worrisome to me, a friend graciously reminded me that God not only owns a cattle on a thousand hills; He owns the hills too!
Love you friend!

Dearest Kimmie,
Our Lord cares for us in mysterious and profound ways. We have walked the adoption journey and know the expenses and heart-wrenching emotions involved and yet God is a God of peace and miracles. His will is for us to care for orphans. Your $4 will grow and His glory will be seen again.
Blessings to you and yours in abundance.

Believing with you!

This story encourages me as we prepare for another adoption committee soon. God gave me this story before my husband and I married-that if we put our family in his hands--he would multiply His love through us.

What a wonderful post! I just read this morning in Job 42:2, "I know that you can do all things, no plan of yours can be thwarted." As you over Him your widow's mite, if it is His will, He will provide a way and in His time. I can't wait to see what testimony will come out of this.

Blessings,
Jackie

Oh Kimmie
How is your current adoption endeavours going? Are you waiting on money?
I'm looking forward to hearing how God will use your $4!
I love the way you related the story to the 5 loaves & 2 fishes - so true He can turn that $4 into $29000 in a second if He wants!
Thinking of & praying for you often!
God bless
Renata:)
