How We Celebrate Christmas...

A glimpse into our Christmas morning.

We begin in the barn, awaiting us is a manger filled with hay with baby Jesus.
The Word of God (the Bible) sits there too.  We stop and thank God for all He has done for us.
We lay our lives down as a gift before Him, which He opens and fills anew.

As a family,
who has been adopted by Him,
we read from one of the gospels, the story of Jesus' birth.
This is of course a celebration of Life and Love like no other!

Christmas is about Jesus, the rest is fluff.

John 1: 14

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only,
who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Is that really your manger, or did you find a picture on the internet? It is so beautiful, and I love the idea of having something SO visual.

Hi Kimmie, you're sure right about the fluff, the darn stuff gets everywhere and not just at Christmas either. Thank goodness your blog is all nice and fluff free.

Hi Mindy (and all)!

Yes, this is our manger. Picture snapped by me.

My father made it when I was a girl.

It was actually a freestanding planter (there once was two) that he made for my mum (who loves flowers). My father, Laszlo, died when I was pregnant with my oldest, but my mum blessed me with the planter...made with love and used now as only a manger.

Hopefully this way it lasts forever and influences my children for the good of the Kingdom.

I would like to find a darker skinned Jesus for our manger...this one perhaps is too light skinned. Prior to me having 2 Ethiopian daughters it never crossed my mind....but now I think, hmmm...surely Jesus had darker skin that this.

funny how God changes us.
