Restoration

Parenting is definitely a full hands on project; kind of like restoration.  When you restore something you give it back its original beauty and characteristics.  Restoration of any sort takes time, patience and a lot of elbow grease.
definition:  restore: (from the Hebrew)  shuwb
a turning back
a returning
of human relations
of spiritual relations
to answer back
to refresh
to repair
a renewing
strength!

Today as I was picking myself up, after another morning of bringing my heart before God (and before my women friends at the Bible study I attend weekly).  I had shared about my current struggle in parenting our 17 year old daughter, who is manifesting a rebellious spirit towards her parents and God.   I started off speaking softly, but then somehow lost control and was weeping, rather loudly.  Guess I needed to release some of the stuff that is building up on my spirit and soul.

Anyhow I was folding some stuff from my dryer and the Holy Spirit whispered that He is restoring my soul.

Psalm 23:3

He restores my soul.
He guides me on paths of righteousness
for His Namesake.

Hmm, guess it was a wee bit of revelation that I am in the midst of some detail work done by the very fingers of God.  He is bringing me to a place of refreshing and restoring some of what has been hurting.  I never really pondered that I am a constant restoration project and that God is so faithful to bring me to the place of full restoration (or as much as He can do this side of heaven).

I hope this too encourages you.
We are in this together you know.

I hope things work out for you Kimmie, I'm sure your latest adoption will be a great comfort to you, they understand more then we realise.

Oh, Kimmie, I'm still praying. I could write blogs upon blogs about the restorative work the Lord has done in the lives of our children, but mostly in ourselves.

I know blessings and answers from the Lord have come for us when we are in tune with the work we are doing in our children as parents AND the work the Lord is doing in us as our Heavenly Parent. You can't focus on only one of these relationships. You are so wise to be listening to the Lord's voice as He guides you through troubled waters.

I can promise you, the Lord will answer those prayers. He will complete the work in her. It may take more of her than you thought you'd have to surrender. But, as strongly as your love for your kids shines through your writing and your life, He loves them more. He longs for her fellowship even more than you do. That has always been a great reminder for me.

Loving and praying for you today.

Ah, Kimmie, God uses your writings to refresh me...the 4-year-old and I so frequently battle, and sometimes I can be nearly overcome by fears for his future....I needed this tonight!

I am in agony over my 14yr old son whom we adopted at birth. Is he bipolar? Why is he so angry and explosive? Why has "no" been his favorite word for 13 years?
I am convinced that his ridiculous stubbornness can be used by God for good someday. It's just killing us now.
Please pray?

Thank you so much for sharing your heart. I prayed for you today and will continue. I REALLY appreciated the reminder of what "restoration" looks like. It spoke to me.

Wow, just last night I was awake for several hours praying for a very heart wrenching situation here in our family, and all that I pray for over and over was for restoration! Thank you for sharing this Kimmie.
