When Adoption Fails (A Mother's Heart)

Once upon a time nearly 8 years ago...
a little baby named Juan was brought into our lives through foster care.  Juan was on the road to finding a permanent family and we thought it was us.

We loved this boy and couldn't wait for him to be ours.

However, God had different plans.
Though it felt like my heart was being ripped out when we learned he had siblings in another home
 and
they trumped us, it was devastating.  The system failed us, the system was NOT truthful or forthcoming. How often in life does this happen with whatever system we are putting our hope in?  Systems fail, people fail, sometimes our hearts are dashed to the dust, but what we have learned is, "God never fails!"

God asked, "Do you trust me?"

We also had two adoptions to Guatemala never come to completion, thousands of dollars were lost.  God reminded us in our deep sorrow that the money was never ours.  He continued to whisper,
"Do you trust me?"

A week ago, after over 18 months of waiting for our state to give us special permission to adopt again (we are over our states limit of 6 children). We received our waiver!!  It has been a long quiet road to this wee one. However, we know that God has a purpose and a plan and we are in expectation/waiting mode.

We are expecting a baby.  Though she has yet to be identified.  The Lord has said her name to us, it means 'wholeness.'  He has told her she will be rescued from death; she will not be aborted as planned.  We continue to wait the long wait and believe that the God that we have learned to trust, through thick or thin,
has a plan.

Sometimes life has many twists and turns, sometimes tears, sometimes  laughter-however we KNOW that God is for us and that no matter where He leads us that His paths lead to peace, goodness and that it is for our good.

Oh Kimmie, I'm so thrilled to hear this update! I've wondered several times over the last couple months where you were in your journey. I know God's timing is perfect, but I'm hoping and praying that your new daughter is in your arms soon.

Congratulations!!!!!! We have felt the sting of adoption disappointment also lately and have been trying to get our minds around what God is doing in our hearts and minds. It is painful, but they tell me it will be worth it. LOL. You can read my last post about our painful journey at http://themagicbrushinc.blogspot.com/. Blessings to you. I'm your newest follower.

How thrilling for you and your family. I will pray for you. We too have a failed adoption and yes the system failed us and failed two girls that could have had a permanent home with us. It was a nightmare. We have very sadly at this point after much prayer and anquish to close the door on further possibilities. I wish you much luck as you await your new blessing.

I needed to read this. I"m going to look up the verses and write them on post-its throughout my home. I'm recovering from a total hysterectomy after lifelong barrenness and my heart is breaking as I feel confused as to why the Lord didn't look upon me and heal me. I've got two miracle-adopted children who are almost grown now, and a husband who has no interest in any more adoptions as we are financially tapped out and the adoptions we had were difficult.
I'm too young to be an empty nester! My heart breaks.
Thank you for your openness in this post. I cherish your words.

Your blog is very pretty, and I enjoyed my visit. We, too, have a large family and have 2 adopted children, and one waiting to come home. I hope to come by more to see you. Come visit me, too.
