Oh they last forever, or until they get so dusty that you want to chuck them. I rotate them around in the bowl for the first month or so...as the fruit has yet to dry out totally. I think the rotation helps! (especially if you chose to show them off in a bowl..on a mantel displayed singularly, you wouldn't need to rotate them).
They look GREAT! I think we might have to try this! : ) Thanks for the run-down in how to do them!!!! Can you use clemintines or do they have to be oranges??
My guess is no on the clementines, I think there is too much air space between the fruit and skin...but hey, you could try...it is smaller, so it would be faster.
OH OH!! I LOVED doing this when I was little, but had forgotten about it. My girls will absolutely be thrilled! THAnks for the reminder! They look great...and I DO remember that they smell amazing :)
Really it is very beautiful picture, the pomanders with dry pinecone, fresh slices orange and the proportional coloration bowl, they create a really christmas composition. I imagine how many beautifully they smell
