A little thrift shop find. I saw it and immediately pictured it as a fall bag.
This is to show you that it was a skirt. a little bit of an a line I'd say.
I just love this pattern!
A few little stitches, here and there, a brown corduroy belt with a grooving big buckle, chopped and repositioned. Remember the skirt was already lined, but I added a groovy little pocket inside....and wahlah!
Next...You know those flyers you get that hang on your mailbox every week. Well, I decided to put them to use, you know give them a little more life. The bag comes with a nice hole in the top, so it can swing in the breeze off your mailbox.
I found an old shirt (cotton) and chopped the back panel off in one large rectangular piece. I then made a little 'handle' and reinforced it into the inside of the bag, I will use this to hold the plastic bag in place and to clip it in my 'tank' Katrinka (suburban). We get these bags weekly, so now I will have an endless supply, hurray!
I am so happy, no longer do I have to have a dirty old plastic bag hanging up front to catch the garbage, now I have this little piece of recycled love. My husband has requested one in hunter green and my 16 year old said, "Mama, this is why I am so proud of you." (she was mocking me, but hey, I'll take it as a compliment!~

I really like both your bags. Great ideas. The coolest thing, though, is that you use old clothes! I do that, too, preferring to rummage through the local pacas (thrift market) to find clothing with fabric that I like.
