The Glad Game!

Want to join the fun?

After reading, Pollyanna, by Eleanor H. Porter with my kids~and loving it. I decided that we should play the game too. If you haven't heard of The Glad Game, well let me fill you in.

The Glad Game is about finding the good in something that isn't.

An example would be from my life yesterday:
Princess Mercy is sick. I picked her up to change her, not realizing *runny poop* was dripping out of her diaper, down her leg and as she only had a diaper cover on, well... As I picked her up, I not only got it all over my hands, but also managed to step in it. My dog ran over and started to lick the floor. Ewwhhh!! I was holding the baby by her arm pits at this point and yelling for help from my children. I couldn't move for fear of *spreading* the mess. Did I mention that she smelled AWFUL?
Now I could have got upset, as the whole day was somewhat similar, or I could find the bright side. *and my kids can tell you that I was leaning towards the negative.
Here is where *The Glad Game* comes in
(find something to be glad about in it).
...
"I am so glad that I have a beautiful Ethiopian baby who is in my arms waiting to be changed. We waited such a long time to have a baby in diapers again, after so many years of infertility."*
...
I find that many times I lean towards the negative in things. I thought if I (we) took time to give thanks, it might do wonderful things in our lives. After all we are to give thanks always to our God! Let's start with being glad about something today...

Let's play and see the difference it makes in our lives! I went first your turn next! Just add your post url into MckLinky and we can get this game off and running-remember to link to my blog in your post so others can come and play the Glad Game too!
I made a button you can use...check out my sidebar. (Thank you God!)

Hey and leave me a comment so I'll know you were by ;-)

You know, in a situation like that about all you can do is LAUGH because it is so overwhelming! I have found that humor was perhaps the only thing that got me through all the moments like that :-) Hmmm, now I have to think a moment about your Glad Game...

Blessings,

Oh Kimmie, am I ever in the need of playing "The Glad Game!" Keep catching myself slipping to the underside of sunny and my boots with the straps attached must still be packed away somewhere. Sigh. Gonna go play the game.

Hoping sweet Mercy is well soon.

Ahh, dear sweet Pollyanna! I'm glad that I can fix a cup of hot tea for the scratchy throat and headache-y head I have!

I admire your heart for adoption. We are still working on our first adoption. I hardly ever blog, but thought you might want to read my latest post to see what God has been instilling in me the last week or so. Good luck with your new adoption and I hope your baby gets better soon.

I also had to laugh about the *mess* because I have been there.... yuck! Thanks for the smile! I need help linking it to my blog please.....

Love,

I love this! I am running late this morning, so I don't have time to officially play, but I will be thinking of this all day long. What a great way to remember to think upon the good stuff--there really is so much of it in my life!

How alike we are, friend! When we finished reading Pollyanna last year we played the Glad Game at our house, too! :) LOVED that book! What a wonderful lesson to tackle each situation with the game of finding something to be glad about! :) We love Pollyanna! :)

Thank you for this post. It was exactly what I needed today. I've even played along. I love your blog that I stumbled upon from Kate McRae's caringbridge site. I'll be coming back.
Blessings to you and your sick one.

That story reminds me of how glad I am that the dogs always run right in to clean up after the baby. But then I've never had an incident quite like this one :)
