Mercy...ethiopian adoption
MERCY
Some reasons you might consider adopting from Ethiopia:
*One in ten children die before their first birthday.
*One in six children die before their fifth birthday.
*60 percent of children in Ethiopia are stunted because of malnutrition.
*1.5 million people in Ethiopia are infected with HIV (sixth highest country in the world).
*720,000 children have been orphaned by AIDS alone, and there are 4.6 million orphans in Ethiopia.
*Half the children in Ethiopia will never attend school. 88 percent will never attend secondary school.
*Ethiopia's doctor to children ratio is 1 to 24,000.

The statistics are staggering, aren't they! It completely overwhelms me.
P.S. Love the 2nd picture with the sweet little pony tail! :-)
Maybe I should have posted this as a prayer request on Sunday...I so want to adopt again...but my husband is not convinced. I am praying we come to an agreement, one way or another.
you made me cry again! and how about the number one cause of death in child in E is diarrhea!!! how sad is that! breaks my heart! i wish I culd hold my child soon!
I am taking your words to heart and to prayer ... actually, this has been tugging at me for some time, but I know that I need to pray more and think more and talk more ...
My goodness, how she is growing! I see lots of personality sparkling in those big eyes, too. She's beautiful, friend, just beautiful :-)
Best Wishes, Kara

She looks so mature and delicate in the third photo!

My hubby and I still would love to adopt from Ethiopia. I wish it wasn't so expensive. I know that the Lord can bring the funds ~ even miraculously. We wait to see if it is His will ~ then the funds will come. Until then, we stand with open arms willing to do His will.
Getting close to finishing Mercy's painting~! Sorry it has taken so long. Will send as soon as it is finished :o)
Thank you for being an advocate for these beautiful children. What a "voice" you have.
Hugs,

God is bringing the families. God is sending HIs Spirit to tug on hearts. God is holding all of His children, and asking us to do the same.
Thank you for sharing, for shouting, for battling, and for living it!

We would love to adopt. We hopefully will be getting to know a family in our area who have adopted 3 from Ethopia and are in the process of adopting 2 or 3 more! Please pray for our family that if God wants us to do this, He will open the door.
Those are very alarming statistics. Certainly challenging.
Love the pic of Princess M with cake all over her face!
