Homeschooling idea

Need a little switch up on your writing or spelling program?
Here's a simple idea that maybe just the trick...

first try...

Now that it is tag sale season here, I was able to pick up a typewriter.

My kids had 'heard' about them but, never had the opportunity to use one. Immediately they all wanted a turn. Spelling has now turned into an adventure. I wonder why in the course of 13 years of homeschooling, that it never occurred to me to buy one.

Officially we are done with our school year, but around 9:30 this morning I heard the clickity-clack of the typewriter keys. Seems that Miss Sunshine wanted to practice her typing.

Hurray for ancient ways! Three dollars well spent.

Hi Kimmie
Sounds like your typewriter is a big 'hit' with the kids. Great idea.
Hope you are enjoying summer.

What a great idea! I would have seen it and not known what I'd do with it.

One year I bought a child's record player. We would put paper plates on it, turn it on then hold markers or paint brushes on the plate to make designs. The kids were so sad when it finally quit working. I'm now looking for a 'new' one!

Sat before last I got a typewriter at a garage sale also - they are great - I'm always hearing the clackety clack at odd hours of the day - the children love it! Glad yours could get as much enjoyment out of it - it's scary to think kids don't know what they are - I learnt typing on a typewriter at school!!

Funny how kids love all of the these old-fashioned goodies! ;)

My son has been asking for one and I told him we had to wait to find one at a yard sale or thrift store. That way it only costs a few dollars!

That is a wonderful idea and typewriters can usually be bought for very little money since they have gone the way of the dinosaurs.
