Santa Won't Be Coming...
As I was reading my Bible this morning I read this verse...
Psalm 106:21
They forgot the God who saved them...
It reminded me of why we choose not to celebrate Santa at our house.
I really like what my daughter
had to say about Santa and Christmas.

It surely is a shame the way this season has been distorted. Here the word 'Christmas' is being slowly cut out of it which annoys me no end. To my mind if you don't believe in Christ then you shouldn't even be having a holiday let alone changing the name to suit your own ends but then maybe my words and thoughts are just to old fashioned for these times.
I always think the saddest verse in the Bible is the one in Judges that says and then there grew up a generation who didn't know God or the stories of his works. Someone dropped the ball.
Yes, it makes me wonder when people are disappointed that we don't do Santa. They act as if we are robbing them of the true meaning of Christmas??!!?? I don't get it.
Add us to the list of proud Santa free families. My husband wasn't raised with Santa being a part of Christmas either, and his mother actually called Santa "Satan Clause". :D I love that this was one thing we never really even had to discuss, we both just knew Christmas was always going to be about Christ, the only reason we even have to celebrate this holiday.
When we moved back to the US, my boys were a bit shocked. Their great grandparents asked them if the Easter bunny brought them anything. They were confused and so we had to explain to them that some people say that an Easter bunny comes to their house. Then my 7 year old looked at me and says, "Mom, I don't get this country. They have Santa for Christmas, an Easter bunny for Easter ... Is there a giant turkey that visits people for Thanksgiving?" Jesus will always be the reason our family celebrates and rejoices.
May you have a joy filled and love overflow Christmas,
Sarah
We've never done Santa with our children either, much to the disappointment of my family!! :/ THough it has become less of an issue as the years have passed. My kids think the whole Santa story is plain crazy!!!
i really like the concept of referring to ourselves as "santa-free." :)
Merry Christmas (pop by my blog for the official Christmas wishes)!! No Santa here either. booo! We will be remembering the reason for the season :-)
Have a good one with your brood of lovely kids & presh family!!!
I am so sad that Christmas is so distorted. We do not have Santa either. We teach our children it is a fun story, but that is all. In saying that I am so surprised at the number of adults who ask them " What is Santa bringing you for Christmas?" Ellie loves to inform them that there is no such thing as Santa - which does make them stop & think. I do think the actual fellow (St. Nicholas - I think) would be so saddened by this ridiculous figure his original acts of kindness have been twisted into.
Sorry - a topic that's been bugging me.
Have a wonderful Christmas celebrating our Saviour's birth!
Renata:)
I am glad you did this Kimmie. Amen
