Journey of Faith

A journey of faith, a journey of faith...the phrase has been resounding in my spirit, since someone told me they were on one. I have been seeking God on helping them gain deeper understanding, as I feel they have been looking, but have not found what truly satisfies the mind, soul and spirit. The good news is that if we seek, God tells us we find (Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.)

It really is simple, but requires us to submit, I think people see that as too difficult, or perhaps painful. Honestly, when you think of surrender it doesn't generally bring up thoughts of joy, however I can assure you, promise you and guarentee that this type of surrender absolutely does bring joy. What greater joy could there be to know that a loving Father (God) in heaven, loved you so much that he sent his only Son (Jesus) to come to earth to show you love and to pay the price of your sin, so that you could have joy, life and peace in this world and also gain eternal life {which starts the moment you confess to God that you are a sinner (have done wrong things)} and ask Him to forgive you-He gladly does, in fact the moment you do there is a party in the heavenlies given in your honor-your soul gaining the gift of God's salvation sets celebration in the Kingdom of God. Sounds like you're pretty loved and important to God-oh dear one, you are.

In this world their are many journeys we embark on, most of them are not the type that will direct us to God. You see we take a look around us when we are young and see what this world has to offer, we see through human eyes all of the potential that is so within our grasp. We drive ourselves to whatever level is required to reach our goal, in this there is temporary satisfaction, but it doesn't last, something else will shoot up and again set us on a journey to attain it.

So what would a journey of faith be to someone who is looking? It could easily look like taking a little of this, absorbing a little of that and coming up with something that makes us comfortable, something we think gives us faith. Faith however isn't a bit of this or that, it isn't taking what we like and creating our own God. God is, always has been, always will be, we can't create him to be how we like, for simply 'He is.'

Now that doesn't mean that once we come into finding him, how ~through the Bible or through the testimony of someone we meet, through prayer... that we don't try to keep God in a box. We think if God is "boxed" somehow we are in control, and that we can continue to be comfortable in our faith.

What is faith? What is the definition of journey?

faith- to draw towards any thing, (notice the any thing-this is the world's faith), to conciliate (reconcile)-to bring together or unite), to believe, to obey (you can't obey or follow if you don't know and believe).

In Greek (which is where the New Testament comes from) it is said, the primitive meaning of the word signifies a rope or cable- it means to strain or to draw- to make fast (a rope holds).

It is the agreement of the mind of understanding the truth of what God has revealed. It is a trust in God, a trust in Jesus Christ and who he is and what he did, a surrender of will to His guidance, and dependance on his merits for our salvation. Our total reliance on Jesus for salvation. Faith is a confidence and trust in God and our Savior (Christ). It requires sincerity on our parts and then faithfulness in continuing to walk it out daily.

Journey-traveling from one place to another, to pass from home to a distance.

Now a Journey of Faith for a believer is about growth. It is about coming into relationship with God, through the confession of sin, and beginning life anew-Jesus reconciles us with the Father (making us born-again, John 3:3 In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”). It is growing from that beginning spiritual Faith- to an ever increasing Faith as we mature in our understanding of God.

I pray that God would use this post to bring understanding and that your journey can begin, hand in hand with God. Please email me if I can be of help to you-know that I am praying for you.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment and paryers, Kimmie. I honestly do not know how I would have survived the past 12 months without my faith. My walk with God for the past 35 years has been an exciting one, and He has never ever let me down. I have had to learn true trust and to let go and let Him catch me. I pray for you and your family too on your walk with Him. Bless you.
